The monument

Since 1920 the Scout Movement has every 4 years arranged a big camp called The World Scout Jamboree.

The 2nd World Scout Jamboree with 4,549 participants from 33 countries took place in 1924 right here at ERMELUNDSSLETTEN.

Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scout Movement, and the Danish King H.M. Christian X visited the camp. This camp formed the basis for every World Scout Jamboree since then. As something new all the participants slept in tents and cooked their own food at the fire place which was not the case at the 1st Jamboree in London with only indoor activities.
